Stats at each level

Common questions

How does the IV calculator work?

Each real stat comes from the base stat, the IV, the EVs, the level and the nature. The calculator tests all 32 IV values for every stat and keeps the ones that match what you entered.

Why do I get a range instead of one number?

One level often fits several IVs. Add the same Pokémon's stats at another level, ideally after a level-up, and the range shrinks.

What are EVs and do they matter?

Effort values add to a stat from battling. If your Pokémon has any, turn on "Input EVs?" and enter them, or the results will be skewed.

What does the characteristic do?

The characteristic in the summary screen names the stat with your highest IV and its remainder when divided by five. That removes many candidates.

How to Use the Pokémon IV Calculator

What IVs are

Individual Values, or IVs, are hidden numbers from 0 to 31 for each stat. They are set when a Pokémon is created and they add to its stats. Two Pokémon of the same species, level and nature can still have different stats because of IVs.

Step by step

Choose your Pokémon, set the generation and nature, then enter the level and stats from the summary screen. Add a second level row after a level-up to narrow the result. If your Pokémon has EVs, turn on the EV option. If the summary screen shows a characteristic, select it.

Reading the results

Green means one exact IV. Amber means a range is still possible, and red means nothing fits what you entered, which usually points to a wrong nature or EV. For generations 3 to 7 you can also add the Hidden Power type to cut candidates. When you have a good one, plan it into a team with the team planner.
