📋 Pokémon Showdown export

What is a random Pokémon team generator?

It picks six Pokémon from the National Pokédex for you. That's the whole trick - and the whole fun. Building around a hand you didn't choose forces you to learn species you'd normally scroll past, which is why random teams show up everywhere from Nuzlocke runs to casual nights with friends to Showdown practice.

Lock and re-roll: chaos, but adjustable

Fell in love with one slot and cold on the other five? Lock the keeper and re-roll. Only unlocked slots refresh, so you can steer a random team toward something you actually want to play without hand-picking a single member.

Coverage mode

Flip Coverage Mode on and the generator avoids repeating primary types across the six slots whenever the pool allows it. The result is still random - just less likely to fold to a single Water-type move.

Once your six are set, look them over with the type randomizer's weakness charts, double-check their roles in the natures guide, or start from a single favorite found with the favorite picker. Need a smaller pool first? The main Pokémon generator filters down to any generation or type.

Common questions

How does the random Pokémon team generator work?

It draws six unique species from the pool your filters define. With no filters set, every one of the 1,025 species has an equal shot. Coverage mode nudges the draw so primary types do not repeat.

Can I keep one Pokémon and reroll the rest?

Yes - that is what the Lock button on each card does. Lock the keepers, then press Re-roll Unlocked and only the open slots get fresh picks.

What is Coverage Mode?

An optional setting that avoids duplicate primary types within the six slots where the pool allows it. You get a more varied team without losing the randomness.

How do I use my team in Pokémon Showdown?

Press Copy Showdown to fill the export panel, then copy the text and paste it straight into Showdown's teambuilder import box. The paste uses species-level entries; set moves and EVs in Showdown itself.

Does the team generator include legendaries?

Only if you want it to. The Special filter can exclude legendary and mythical species, include them freely, or restrict the pool to one of those groups.

About Random Pokémon Team Building

What is a random team generator?

A random team generator hands you six Pokémon without asking what you want. That sounds like a gimmick, but it changes how you play. You stop reaching for the same favourites and start solving problems with whatever came out of the roll. The tool picks from the full dex and shows the team's type coverage straight away.

Lock and re-roll

Found a Pokémon you love? Press the lock on its card and re-roll the rest. Only unlocked slots change, so you can build a team around one or two anchors and let chance fill the gaps. Coverage mode asks the generator to avoid doubling up on primary types, which gives you a more balanced six without removing the surprise.

Nuzlocke, Random Battles and practice teams

For a Nuzlocke, filter by the game's generation and roll a team to simulate the run. For a Showdown test, copy the Showdown export and paste it into the teambuilder, then add moves and items. After that, open the team planner to see how the six hold up, and use the nickname generator to name them.
